Session Description
Designed to focus on the unique pressures and influences young people face in a post-modern world, this session is designed for parents, youth workers, teachers and others that deal with the specific challenges associated with understanding the world of pre-teens and adolescents. Anyone desiring to increase their understanding of youth and youth culture will find this session beneficial. Some of the topics for discussion are cultural forces influencing children and teens, and understanding popular music and media. ![]() Paul Robertson Paul Robertson is the Youth Culture Specialist as well as the Director of Church, School and Family Resources for Youth Unlimited (Toronto Youth for Christ). He has 33 years experience working with youth including raising four grown sons of his own. Paul graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education degree. After teaching high school for five years, Paul has been with Youth Unlimited for 28 years. Paul has done various radio interviews and made television appearances on 100 Huntley Street, Global News, Lorna Dueck's "Listen Up" on Global, and Valerie Pringle’s "Test of Faith" on Vision TV; spoken extensively in the U.S. on behalf of the Center for Parent/Youth Understanding in Pennsylvania; and written articles for Promise Keepers Canada and a variety of newspapers. His "Understanding Today’s Youth" seminars have been presented to social workers, professional groups, civic leaders, parents, educators, pastors, and youth workers. Paul has been married to Marg for 32 years. Their four grown sons, Ian, Aaron, Bryon, and Nathan are the joy of their lives.
